Now that we’re a week into the boys and girls basketball season, it’s time to do some rankings.
Below is a look at how the Reporter’s Class 3A and Class 4A boys and girls state rankings panned out. It’s important to note that many sports writers in the company voted on this particular poll. If you have any questions, feel free to throw them my way and I’ll do the best I can in answering.
Interestingly, there are four teams from the SPSL North in the girls rankings. I was a little surprised Kentlake cracked the top 10, though the Falcons are off to an outstanding start (3-0) and Morganne Comstock has been huge thus far. Also, though KW won state last year, I was also a bit surprised the Conks ranked as high as four. The Seattle Times has KW ranked No. 1 and I think that’s a bit high right now. KW has returned some good talent, but it also graduated Lindsey Moore and Jessie Genger, it’s top two scorers.
In the Class 4A boys rankings, Federal Way is unquestionably No. 1 and KW belongs in the top five. I’m interested to see how Kentridge performs in the early season. I think Gary Bell could win the league MVP and Dave Jamison is a coaching wizard, but finding someone to replace the scoring punch of Shaquielle McKissic is going to be tough.
So here are the polls. Let me know your thoughts.
